If you’re looking for a space where you can cool off, let your mind relax, and be inspired by creative people in your community, then join us for a Overdyeing Workshop and Indigo Dye Party.
The Overdyeing Workshop will start promptly at 3:00 and will introduce you to basic techniques for using natural dyes to set a base color for overdyeing with indigo. Overdyeing involves using one dye color to dye over top of another. Participants will get to use a natural marigold dye which when combined with indigo can create a beautiful green. Use resist techniques to create all three colors of yellow green and blue on the same cloth. Registration is required for the workshop, but participants are invited to stay for the free Indigo Dye Party which begins at 5pm.
At 5:00pm we’ll open the indigo dye buckets and let the party begin! We’ll provide the indigo dye, basic dyeing supplies, and know how. Indigo is the beautiful blue color classically used for the blue jeans and is created when a plant based green dye is exposed to the air and turns blue right before your eyes! Yes, it’s magical! . We’ll have cotton tees and bandanas available with a donation to Art Equals, or bring your own piece of natural materiallike cotton, linen, silk, or wool.
