Woolly Workshops

Learn a new skill and get ready for the fiber fun at Woolly Fest by engaging in a workshop hosted at the Art Equals Studio by local fiber artist.Registration is required to insure space and supplies. Inclusive pricing available at registration.

Beginning/intermediate knitters will make a fun-sized (about 2x2 inch) amulet bag.
We will knit without a pattern. Patternless knitting lets the knitter dictate the dimensions, yarn choices, and other features.
All materials provided (but knitters use their own amulet or other contents for the finished bag).
Anne is a an artist and writer. Her studio is in Cincinnati’s Brighton neighborhood.

The best way to fully understand a process is to teach someone else how to do it.
Make a mini how-to book out of a single sheet of paper. We will think through the steps required to create something, commit that to paper, and make a zine out of it.
Anne Skove has been part of several Zinecinnati events, and has led zine workshops around the area.

Learn how to create sculptural 3D forms using added and resist techniques.
This workshop introduces you to wet felting, where wool fiber is turned into sculptural fabric with soap, water, and a lot of rolling. All supplies will be provided. All skill levels are welcome. Ages 12 and up.
Charlotte Reed is a process-oriented artist whose love for all things fiber has spanned more than 30 years of exploration and play. With interests ranging from paper making to hand spinning yarn, she especially loves working with ever expanding capabilities that felt brings to her work.

Learn to create a lightweight portable loom out of everyday drinking straws that will have you weaving wonderful scarves and wall hangings in no time. All supplies will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring scraps of yarn or ribbon that you may want to add to your weaving. All skill levels. Ages 8 and up

Learn how to create these dynamic mushrooms that will liven up your fall displays. Used stitched felt techniques along with embellishments made from crewel embroidery, thread, felt, and beads. Ages 13 and up.
Michelle is a fiber artist and member of the Cincinnati Weaver’s Guild. She enjoys exploring both 2D and 3D works of fiber with sewing, embroidery, crochet and felting.
